Calibre Audio are thrilled to host best-selling author A. M. Dassu for this online workshop that will explore stereotypes, media coverage, different perspectives and building empathy.
A. M. Dassu has taken inspiration from news stories for her award-winning novels. In this workshop, students will join A. M. Dassu to learn how she did it, then study newspapers for inspiration to plot their own stories. They will discuss how to show a different perspective on a story in the hope that it will build empathy and challenge stereotypes to help encourage a kinder, more understanding society.
We hope this will inspire students to get creative and take part in Calibre's Inclusive Voices short story competition which has an empathy-led theme.
