As well as this, we’ve got a host of egg-stra activities planned to keep you and your kids entertained. From treasure trails to wacky workshops, there’s something for everyone!

Included in your admission…
Jackanory Display
From Thursday 11 March
Included with Museum entry, suitable for all ages
Step into Roald Dahl’s wonderfully wild imagination and uncover the early drafts of George’s Marvellous Medicine. Explore how the story evolved from a few mischievous ideas, then go behind the scenes of Rik Mayall’s iconic 1985 Jackanory performance. Enjoy rare behind-the-scenes photos and feast your eyes on the original illustrations by Frances Cony, produced for Mayall’s rendition 30 years ago.
Storytelling from George’s Marvellous Medicine
Saturday 28 March to Sunday 12 April
Included with Museum entry, suitable for all ages
Enter our Wondrous Woods room to enjoy an energetic storytelling session of George’s Marvellous Medicine led by our expert storytellers. Discover the secret medicine George is creating for his Grandma, brought to life with actions, props and special illustrations from the 1985 Jackanory episode.
George’s Splendiferous Storyboard Trail
From Friday 12 March
Included with Museum entry, suitable for all ages
Pick up your free trail and explore the galleries to help complete your storyboard. Alma the goat has gobbled up parts of the pictures in your booklet — find the pictures around the Museum to complete the missing sections and copy the quotes to finish the storyboard.
Grow Your Own Grandma
Saturday 28 March to Sunday 12 April (except Thursday 2 April)
Included with Museum entry, suitable for all ages
Drop in throughout the day for some supersized fun inspired by the ever-growing grandma in George’s Marvellous Medicine. Work as a team and use junk materials to try and make the tallest grandma that you can by stacking, balancing and building. At the end you can measure how far she gets!
And don't miss our February half-term workshops...
Step into a world of pure imagination and sculpt your very own fantastical Curious Clay Concoction! Using a range of tools and textures, you’ll spend 45 minutes crafting a delumptious clay scene to take home with you.
If mess isn't your thing, join our expert storyteller, Michael, for a Marvellous Meander through Great Missenden to discover the real-life inspirations behind Roald Dahl’s tales.
For the curious and the creative, why not Stir Up Some Stories as part of one of our creative writing workshops? Led by our award-winning learning team, you'll come away brimming with ideas for your own story.
Finally, enter our Marvellous Medicine Lab to get stuck in with some hands on science experiments. Join us as we combine ingredients, play around with scale and see what we can launch into the sky!
