A spokesman for Southern Gas Networks has told Bucks Radio the repair work will take "some weeks" to complete, but will be suspended this weekend due to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
It's after the Aylesbury Road between the Wingrave Crossroads and Wing was closed due to a gas leak in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Dan Brown, spokesperson for gas company SGN, told Bucks Radio:
We recognise the frustrations of local motorists impacted by our engineers needing to return to this location to repair a gas leak. We’ll be replacing this affected pipe to provide a permanent solution that keeps everyone safe and warm and avoids future disruption.
Our engineers have isolated the leak and we’ll be able to reopen the A418 at approximately 6pm today (1/7/25) Temporary lights will be in operation to manage traffic flow around our site while we replace our old pipe.
This pipe replacement work is expected to take a few weeks to complete. Our engineers will briefly suspend work this weekend to compensate for the increased traffic volumes anticipated in the area with the British Grand Prix taking place at Silverstone.
