Bucks Fire and Rescue Service has published a ‘recipe for disaster’ that it strongly recommends people DO NOT follow in their kitchen at home to remain firesafe.
The region’s firefighters say that 44% of fires they're called out to are caused by cooking related incidents and so are sharing advice on how to reduce the risk - with a comedic twist!
In order to avoid any confusion, we are just going to publish the safety advice but it is worth reading the article on their website - the link is below.
- Do Not Store Stuff on the Hobs - Even if you aren’t using the hobs, never leave or store things like kitchen towels or bags on them.
- Never Leave Cooking Unattended - It only takes a short period of time for an unattended pan to start to burn, and it could be more than your dinner you are burning!
- Do Not Put Metallic Items in the Microwave - Metallics in the microwave are sure to add the wrong type of spark to your meal. Only use microwave-safe utensils and dishes.
- Do Not Drink and Cook – If you have the munchies after a few pints, get a takeaway! Don’t chance putting on something to cook and accidently falling asleep – the results could be more costly than a takeaway!
