Plans for a new 5-storey prison, housing around 1,400 inmates near Grendon Underwood, may still go ahead.
That's despite local opposition to the project from villagers, Buckinghamshire Council and local MP Greg Smith.
The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has decided not to put in an Outline Planning Application for the facility - for now. That's the first stage of asking permission to build the development.
Buckinghamshire Council have told us they had a meeting with the MOJ on Friday (26/3), where they were told more survey work was being done. This could include things like confirming whether there are any protected wildlife species in the area, preventing them from going ahead with the project.
The MOJ have now written to the affected household where this work needs to be done.
Once these surveys are completed, an Outline Planning Application can still be made.
