The route between Aylesbury and Stone will be shut while HS2 lay power cables under the road.
The A418 from the Coldhabour roundabout to Sedrup will be closed to all traffic, including emergency services, from 8:30 tonight (17/11/23) until 5:30 on Monday morning.
Diversions will be in place, with some traffic being directed to Bicester and the A34/M40 for travel between Aylesbury and Thame or Oxford.
After discussions with the Aylesbury Town Council, HS2 have said the Oxford Road footway and cycle path will remain open.
The council leader, Richard Lloyd, told us this isn't the end of the disruption and he's frustrated by the process.
"As this project continues, I know the A41 will have weekend closures in 2024 and, as residents will be aware, we end up with very little benefit at the other end. So we get all of the disruption, but none of the benefit".
