A Buckinghamshire school is holding a day of action to clamp down on people who leave engines running while stationary. It's after Princes Risborough School introduced an 'anti-idling' policy last month.
Today members of the student council, staff and the town council will monitor vehicles outside the school gates to ensure they're following the new rules.
The school says pollutants from vehicle exhaust fumes are not bad for the environment, but also linked to health issues such as asthma, allergies, heart disease and other serious health issues. It warns children are particularly vulnerable because their bodies are still developing.
Its message to parents and visitors is simple: If you are stationary in your vehicle, please turn your engine off.
