Good News as it looks like Wendover War Memorial will be fixed in time for Remembrance Day.
A local stonemason has now completed a full survey of the War Memorial, after cleaning the war memorial earlier this month, Wendover Parish Council discovered issues that suggested the column might be structurally unsound. Part of the top of the column came away and is now being safely stored in the clock tower.
The good news is that there are no structural or safety concerns with the column or shaft. However, the survey did identify that repairs are needed to the lantern at the top of the memorial.
Some of this work has already been carried out, and the plan is to complete all necessary repairs and remove the scaffolding in time for Remembrance Day on Sunday 9th November.
